Feminist to Know: Yin Q

Yin Q is a writer, organizer, BDSM practitioner, and artist based in New York. Through the mediums of kink advocacy, writing and content creation, and sex work, they create space for more liberatory conversations about sex and pleasure by centering sex workers’ lived experiences and destigmatizing conversations of sexual agency. As a queer, Asian-American person, Yin Q’s work also rebukes societal narratives of deviance and shame that are both gendered and racialized.

Yin Q holds a BA from Barnard where she studied writing, and an MFA from The New School. She wrote a memoir of her own life detailing pain, trauma, pleasure, and politics which later became the acclaimed 2018 Mercy Mistress series pilot. You can read the first chapter of their memoir here.
