Get to Know Our 2025 Summer Interns!
This summer, we’ve had another wonderful group of high school interns join our team: Naomi, Leslie, and Jera. Get to know them via their group interview below!
NAOMI’S QUESTIONS FOR LESLIE:
N: What are 5 essentials you can’t live without?
L: My laptop, Instagram, gum, my headphones, and my alarm clock.
N: If you had to live in a different country for a year, where would you choose and why?
L: I would live in South Korea; I used to live there when I was younger and I really miss it. There’s good food and entertainment, and I might move back there when I graduate to get back in touch with my roots.
N: What place near where you live that you would recommend to any visitor?
L: Bellevue is one of the most boring places in my opinion, but Bellevue Square has everything you could need and has great boba and shopping.
N: What do you think of as the greatest song of all time?
L: Probably depends on my mood at a given moment, but This Song by Conan Gray is my current favorite.
N: What’s one item on your bucket list you’re determined to check off?
L: I want to travel the world. Ever since I was young, I’ve been obsessed with traveling, and it’s always been a dream of mine to see the world. I want to see different places and cultures!
JERA’S QUESTIONS FOR NAOMI:
J: When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?
N: Olympic gymnast because gymnastics was my biggest passion growing up, and I idolized figures like Simone Biles and Laurie Hernandez.
J: What is one designer you want? Can be anything, bags, dresses, etc.
N: Not really into designers, but if I had to choose one, I like Prada–maybe a Prada bag.
J: What do you want to major in college?
N: Economics because I’ve done a few programs and took a course and found it really interesting. I love that it teaches you how the world works.
J: What’s your favorite season and activity to do in it?
N: Summer because I have the freedom to travel and try different things. Having a routine is nice, but I like having the freedom to schedule my time in summer. The weather is also hard to beat since I love to swim and love being in the sun.
J: Which feminist figure best aligns with you as a person?
N: Beyoncè! I like that she uses music as a form of advocacy.
LESLIE’S QUESTIONS FOR JERA:
L: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
J: I would love to visit Egypt because of the pyramids. Though people say it’s boring, I think there’s a lot more to it and would love the opportunity.
L: Favorite book?
J: Both/And by Huma Abedin. It’s interesting and nice to hear about a woman’s perspective coming from the Middle East to the United States.
L: Playlist for the past school year?
J: On my own by Darcy in honor of doing projects and homework alone. Dancing in the Dark from Home in memoriam of doing said work alone in the dark. Treat You Better by Shawn Mendes as a reminder of personal/self love. Finally, Sweater Weather by the Neighborhood, just because it’s a personal favorite.
L: Opinions on mint chocolate?
J: I’m stuck firmly in the middle– because it depends on the type of mint chocolate product. Mint chocolate ice cream is good, but I’m not a fan of other mint chocolate snacks.
L: Dream job?
J: I would love to be a journalist or a diplomat. In particular, I want to travel and work in the Middle East.
